When should I book my session?
The sooner the better! Dates for weddings can fill up fast, most clients typically book 8-12 months in advance, as there are often multiple couples seeking the same date. For portrait sessions, booking 6 weeks in advance is best if you want a weekend date. If you are not in a rush, we do have weeknights more readily available. Please inquire to receive our availability.
What should I wear?
Simply put, soft tones and neutrals are an easy win! But we provide a thoughtful Style Guide to help you prep for your session. Styling is one of the key parts to getting the most out of your photos, so we are here to help you every step of the way.
Do you help with posing?
We got you! We know it can feel intimidating to think about standing in front of two people you just met and their camera, but we will guide you through poses from head to toe for the whole session. We will place you in set-ups and interactions that will allow us to capture natural movements and laughs, create a story, and make it easy on you in the process.
What clients do you serve?
We celebrate and photograph all people, couples, and families, regardless of culture, background, or who you love. We welcome all!
How long should I expect to wait for my final gallery?
Weddings typically take anywhere from 4-6 weeks, Engagements or other Portrait sessions take no longer than 2 weeks.
What types of portrait sessions do you offer?
All types! Engagements, Families, Seniors, and Maternities are our most requested. But we love Life-Style Newborn sessions, Cake Smashes, and Content sessions.
What exactly is a Life-Style Newborn?
We shoot to tell the story of your newborn’s first few days at home, sleeping in their crib, cuddled with dad on the couch, and being nursed or bottle-fed by mama. These sessions are generally held within the first 10-14 days of life, when they are still quite sleepy. But if you want your cutie more awake, 4-6 weeks old works as well.
I see the phrase “Bridals”, what does that mean?
While we do take individual shots of the bride and groom during this session, Bridals is how we define couple portraits on your wedding day. These sessions dont have to be held ONLY at your wedding, we love when clients want to go on an adventure for a more stress-free, creative session, before or after they say “I do”. We will still shoot Bridals on your wedding day if you choose this option, but they will be shorter sessions, freeing up some time in a typically busy wedding day schedule.
What is the best time of day for light?
We love us some golden hour light! Most outdoor Portrait sessions take place 60-90 minutes before sunset at any given time in the year. Another beautiful lighting option is sunrise, these sessions start about 30 minutes before the sun pops out. For indoor sessions, we still use natural light, timing for these sessions is case by case.
Do you charge for travel?
Yes, for shoots two hours outside of Boise, we do have to consider travel in your overall session pricing. But we love to travel and we work hard to keep these prices simple and low, they are generally based on time, airfare/gas, and sleep accommodations. Pricing for travel is case by case, so please reach out with questions.
Is there a rescheduling fee for sickness or bad weather?
No. There is no extra fee for rescheduling. Life and weather happens. When it comes to bad weather, we ask our clients to keep their session day open, so that we can adjust the shooting time without stress if necessary. If the weather just won’t cooperate, we always try to be flexible with our schedule!
How do I book my session?
To officially book your day, we ask that you fill out the session inquiry form, and once we find a date that works, we require a deposit and signed contract. If you are wanting to book your wedding with us, we often hold an in-person or via FaceTime meeting prior to booking so we can get to know each other a bit better. After you are booked, you are one step closer to beautiful photos with Taylor & Kelsey Photography.
